Maddy Clifford aka MADlines is inspired by poetry's capacity to empower populations impacted by legacies of mass incarceration.
For the past eight years, Maddy has taught poetry in detention centers, after school programs, and college campuses.
Her unique expertise has allowed her to teach aspiring hip hop artists as far away as Kampala, Uganda. Maddy has accomplished all this while remaining deeply invested in sharpening her own artistic craft.
This year, Maddy rocked Oakland Museum's first ever Park Jam as well as Upstream Music Festival in her hometown of Seattle.
Maddy is currently taking part in a Zoolab Residency as one half of the goddess Trap duo, FR333.
On Fridays, Maddy facilitates creative writing workshops at the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center, a short-term youth detention facility for the city and county of SF.
This coming October Maddy will also be working on her first full-length album an Artist in Residence at Salesforce Park.
